Welcome to our Beginning Sewing class at Sewing and Fitting Mentor! If you’re new to the world of sewing or it’s been longer than you’d care to admit, you’ve found the perfect spot to kick off your sewing adventure.

We designed our class with you, the beginner sewist, in mind, aiming to make your introduction to sewing as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible. We believe in the magic of learning together and encourage weekly attendance for best results in growing your new skills in a fun, supportive environment.

As soon as you enroll, you’ll receive your very own “Learn to Sew” workbook. This workbook comes packed with 7 delightful patterns and clear instructions from Kids Can Sew Curriculum to guide you through each project at your own comfortable pace. Right from the get-go, we’ll get you acquainted with your sewing machine, teaching you all the basics from threading the needle to completing your first stitch. Plus, we’ll dive into how to pick the perfect needle, thread & fabrics for your projects and what treasures to gather in your beginner’s sewing toolkit.

Initial Class: We kick off with the basics, introducing you to the sewing machine—its parts, functionality, and maintenance. You can bring your own, or use the machines provided in the studio. You’ll learn how to set up your sewing machine, thread it correctly, practice basic stitches and accurate seam allowances.

Subsequent Classes: With a strong focus on hands-on learning, you will progressively tackle more complex tasks, including:

• Learning to read and understand simple patterns.
• Gaining insights into the tools and accessories that make sewing more efficient and enjoyable.
• Mastering essential sewing techniques such as seams, hems, and basic garment construction.Exploring different types of fabrics and their best use in different sewing projects
• Undertaking a beginner-friendly project, like crafting a simple tote bag or pillow, to apply your newfound skills in a practical setting.

Class Registration and Tuition: Joining our sewing family is easy! Click the BOOK button below, that bills the registration fee of $50. Then, navigate to the Membership tab and enroll for Adult/Teen Beginning Sewing to pay the first month’s tuition of $110 will secure your spot in the class. This fee not only reserves your class date and time but also includes your essential Kids Can Sew student workbook with all the project patterns, neatly organized in a handy 3-ring binder.

Your journey with us will continue at $110 monthly membership, due on the first class of each month. Rest assured, you’ll be automatically enrolled each month, so you can focus on your sewing without a worry. Should you ever need to take a break, simply let us know with a written notice before the next billing cycle.

Class Supplies: You will have all necessary materials for your first project, ensuring a hassle-free start to your sewing adventure. As you progress, you’ll receive guidance on the essential supplies to enhance your sewing toolkit, which can be sourced from home, local craft stores, or online.
